Essays on aspects of Photography
Throwing the seeds of doubt in the face of certainty. A Relaxed Approach to Philosophy A lot of photography revolves around philosophy and attitude. Over the years, discussing with friends and on online forums, my approach has shifted. Disclaimer My chosen genre is landscape photography, based in Scotland. Stacking for Image Quality What is Image Quality? This can be quite hard a hard commodity to recognise, especially when presented with a photograph, particularly when the definition is unclear but one is familiar with detracting misfeatures. Photographic Parameters In this day and age, the vast majority of cameras sold (digital, especially dSLRs and compacts) tend to mask the optical properties that determine features of your photographs. An algorithm chooses the settings that gets some part of the scene exposed the way it thinks it should be; another chooses the distance at which to focus; a third might decide whether it needs to pop up an internal flash unit.
