Mountains in Assynt from a viewpoint above Rhicarn
There is a B-road that loops around Assynt by the coast. Driving, through a landscape of Lewisian gneiss rock and lochs, suddenly one comes over the brow of a hill to find a panorama of mountains along the horizon in front. I spent half an hour standing on the small mid-distant hillock in a howling gale, trying to keep the tripod from blowing away, before deciding the light was not going to be correct on the distant mountains. At the last minute, having given up and returned to the car, with the rain starting to work across the landscape from behind, I saw this composition. There was only time for one photo before I got drenched. Taken on the Shen-Hao large-format camera using Fuji Velvia-100 film.
