Detail of the water flowing through the gorge, around the natural arch eroded in the rock.
I still remember my first visit to the Falls of Bruar in Highland Perthshire, impressed by the geology - the shiny psammite/semipelite rocks in the gorge eroded by the Bruar Water. It's no less impressive even ten years later.
Here we have a classic landscape scene, approaching the lower falls, with the river flowing through the natural arch in the rock.
