Land of Shadow
The sun setting behind Harker Fell casting a huge shadow across the landscape
This was one of those scenes for which one simply has to stop the car on sight and make the photograph by the roadside, choosing a favourable composition on the fly, while the light lasts. In this case, the classic near-mid-far landscape detail approach worked well, capturing strong diagonal lines throughout the frame; the contrast in the scene was challenging for Provia film, but with HDR-style tonemapping using QTpfsgui, more detail has been revealed in the highlights.
