Sunlight on mountains across Lochan Urr, Glen Etive
Having lived towards the foot of Loch Etive for a couple of years, the 1.5-hour drive to get 10 miles up the loch is quite offputting - but having seen a fellow photographer's work online, I spent a while researching exactly where the best vantage-point was and how to reach Lochan Urr; the next thing you know, I'm up to ankles in the shallows of the lochan with fish jumping in the water and tripod splayed low and wide, making long exposures of fleeting glimpses of sunlight on the mountains (mostly the Stob Dubg end of Buachaille Etive Beag here).
This photo was made by blending 3 source images, taken 15s apart - this allowed me to choose the optimum positioning of light on the hillside. Further processing included RawTherapee, darktable, Luminance-HDR and krita to finalize the tonality.
There is also a timelapse video taken at the time.
