MV Dayspring, Corpach

Display image: MV Dayspring, Corpach
An appropriate place for a shipwreck, well, grounded and mostly abandoned former fishing trawler boat: Corpach takes its name from the Gaelic ("bodily", concerning corpses), possibly as it was used as a resting place for carrying chieftains' coffins on their way to burial on Iona. The MV Dayspring was originally built in 1975 and moored at Kinlochleven Pier from 2001. A chain fell off during a heavy storm in 2011 and the boat ran aground at Caol where it's been ever since. The day's explorations took us all around the Ardgour peninsula, but on return, the sunlight was glorious and there was a spectacular rainbow in the distance over Fort William. It faded by the time we reached the boat, but was still pretty impressive.
