Windyedge Tree Fog

Windyedge Tree Fog
Simple minimalism: a well-known tree at Windyedge on the way into Perth beside the A9, taken at night.
The fog was so thick I couldn’t even see the tree less than 100yd in front of me. The only way to focus the camera was to pick an equivalent distance, focus on a pole beside a bus-stop the opposite side of the road, swing the camera around to where I thought the tree was - and nobody was more surprised than me when the first exposures appeared on camera with the tree perfectly placed off-centre.

In the conditions it took 30s at ISO 6400 to make any impression; this is a composite of many such photos stacked and averaged together with varying patterns of illumination from passing car headlights through the fog.
